Xbox Game Pass February: Avowed, Eiyuden Chronicle, and Hidden Gems to Play

As the saying goes: you can’t win them all. While PlayStation’s February PS Plus lineup faced heavy criticism, the conversation has now turned to Xbox and its Game Pass offerings for the month. Although there’s plenty of excitement surrounding Avowed (and rightfully so), many fans feel underwhelmed by the overall selection. So, let’s dive into what’s coming to Xbox Game Pass this month.
Despite some mixed reactions, there’s still a lot to appreciate in this lineup. Granted, as a huge Obsidian fan, I might be a little biased—but honestly, even if Avowed were the only game hitting Game Pass this month, I’d still be satisfied.
Avowed: Say what you want, but Avowed is set to be Obsidian’s crowning achievement—and perhaps even the highlight of the Xbox brand itself. Based on preview impressions, this game has all the makings of a genre-defining RPG. The studio’s so-called “weakest” game, The Outer Worlds, was still an excellent experience, so there’s no reason to doubt Obsidian’s ability to deliver. If Avowed scores below an 85 on Metacritic, I’ll be shocked. (Not leaving my post over it, though—you’re stuck with me.)
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes: This is one that my partner and I have been meaning to play, but our backlog keeps getting in the way. Technically, it’s been available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers for a while now, but that doesn’t diminish its appeal. With a massive roster of playable characters and plenty of personality, Eiyuden Chronicle calls back to classic JRPGs like Chrono Trigger. Sometimes, you just need a lighthearted, character-driven adventure, and this one delivers.
Another Crab’s Treasure: This is an underrated gem, and I’m thrilled that Game Pass is making it more accessible. Yes, it’s a Soulslike, but it’s also full of charm, humor, and heart. You can tell the developers poured passion into this project, and it absolutely deserves the spotlight. If you haven’t had the chance to experience Another Crab’s Treasure, now’s the perfect opportunity.
While the Game Pass lineup for this month may not satisfy everyone, there’s still plenty to be excited about. Whether you’re diving into a grand RPG, a classic-style JRPG, or a quirky Soulslike, there’s something worth checking out.
